In an effort to strengthen Stena Line’s position on the North Sea market, Stena RoRo has ordered two so-called ‘Stena Super Ferries’ from Aker Yards. When delivered, they will be the largest RoPax vessels in the world with a capacity of more than 5,500 lane metres and 1,200 passengers in 540 cabins. The vessels are being built at Aker MTW Werft in the Hanseatic port of Wismar in northern Germany and incorporate many new design features. These Super Ferries will be delivered in the first and third quarters of 2010, respectively, and will replace the Stena Hollandica and the Stena Britannica on the Hoek van Holland – Harwich route.
