Stena RoRo has been active in this region for about 20 years. For many years, Stena RoRo had two RoRo vessels – the M/S City of Burnie and the M/S City of Port Melbourne – making daily crossings between Burnie, Tasmania, and Melbourne, Australia. At that time, the vessels were operated by Brambles, a leading global provider of support services and a longstanding customer of Stena RoRo. Since the Bass Strait is located in the roaring ‘40s, the vessels were frequently subjected to extremely strong winds and often very high waves, a situation these vessels handled very well.
