The Mediterranean and Southern Europe

Stena RoRo has had a presence in the Mediterranean since the 1970s in Greek, French, Tunisian and Spanish waters. The Stena Forerunner Mk I series of vessels were built at the SEC shipyard in Viareggio, northwest of Pisa, Italy, and in the late 1990s we took delivery of the Stena Forwarder, the first vessel in the series. The Stena Freighter and the Stena Carrier, currently trading for Stena Line, are also of the same type, although delivered in 2004 after having been commissioned elsewhere.

In the late 1990s, four RoPax vessels were ordered from Astilleros Españoles SA (AESA) in Puerto Real, Spain. Three of these vessels are now owned by Finnlines and the fourth is currently trading for Stena Line as the Stena Hollandica (recently lengthened).
